Tea Tree Oil has been used for centuries for its powerful anti-septic properties, as well as it’s spot busting powers!
The tree, also known as Melaleuca alternifolia, is native to Australia and many feature as garden plants too. It’s generally a short bush with evergreen leaves and white flowers which are produced in dense clusters along the stems. When Captain Cook’s sailors visited Australia in 1770, they named the Tea Tree plant and used it for healing cuts, burns, bites and skin ailments.
This multi-functional oil can be used for anti-inflammatory properties, anti-sceptic and infections as the oil kills bacteria and fungus. Amongst its many medical properties, Tea Tree Oil is perfect for treating spots.
It helps combat the bacteria that causes spots with irritation and is also successful at decreasing the size of blackheads, whiteheads and acne spots. Though it can take longer than strong chemical and prescribed products, Tea Tree is a lot more gentle on the skin and is proven to have successful long-lasting results.
It is not recommend to use undiluted Tea Tree Oil as this can cause irritation, redness and itching, but products such as the T-Zone Spot Zapping Gel and Anti-Bacterial Cleanser use Tea Tree oil as an ingredient to combat spots.
